Playing at Grandma's House

Yesterday Catherine and I went to Grandma's house for a few hours, and we took these adorable pictures. Catherine was in such a good mood, and I couldn't wait to share these photos!

A day at the park with Dad

I always get the pleasure of taking Catherine to the park to play during the week while Bill is working, so this past weekend we all went together. I snapped a few pictures of Catherine swinging with her Daddy. Talk about a happy baby.

Yet More Park Playing

These photos were snapped a few days ago at the park with our friend Grace. The girls had a great time playing in the sandbox and swinging. The last photo Catherine is demonstrating her ability to use her shovel as a spoon to maximize the amount of sand she can eat in the shortest amount of time!

6 Month Portraits

I took Catherine to have her first professional photos taken yesterday. The people at Portrait Innovations are amazing. She threw a fit between outfit changes, yet to look at the photos, you would never be able to tell. It was so hard to choose which poses to buy. All myself control went out the window, so Bill should probably come with me for future sessions to protect our retirement fund!

Playing with Ada

Yesterday we went to the park with our friend Ada and her mommy Meredith. It was 82 degrees and I got a sunburn. Fortunately I had Catherine better protected than myself. Here are some photos of the girls having a good time in the sandbox.

A Day at the Park

The weather was beautiful yesterday, so we headed to the park. Catherine was particularly fond of trying to eat the wood chips in the sand box. Here are some photos of our fun adventure.

Six Month Check Up

Catherine had her six month check up today and she is weighing in at 16 pounds 13 ounces and measuring 26 inches long. She's put on 10 pounds and 6 inches since birth!
Since she started solid foods about three weeks ago, she has been all about meal time. Carrots and bananas are her favorites so far. I am still finding it hard to believe how much she has grown!

Why trying to use adult logic with children is a mistake

So I had a recent parent experience that has once again demonstrated
why trying to use adult logic when dealing with children is a mistake.
On Thursday Catherine and I went to the mall with my friend and her
daughter. We had had been to the park and had lunch prior to going to
the mall, and right before we left the restaurant I changed Catherine.
When we got to the mall we were just going to run in to go to The
Children's Place, so I decided, using my adult brain logic, that I did
not need to drag the diaper bag in with me since Catherine had just
been changed not more than 10 minutes ago. Much to my misfortune,
Catherine had a blow out diaper as we were leaving the store. There was
poop everywhere. I had no diaper bag, hence no diapers, no wipes, no
change of clothes. Fortunately, my friend could supply me with all the
necessaries, but nothing could make me feel any less than an idiot .
Really, who takes a baby anywhere without the diaper bag?! I guess an
inexperienced parent! Believe me I will not be heading anywhere ever
again with out the entire arsenal.

Favorite Photos

Here are some of my favorite photos of Catherine that we have accumulated recently. The one in her car seat is curtousy of Aunt Elisabeth.

Standing

Take a look on this baby's face. I have a feeling we are in some trouble very, very soon!

Sitting Up

We've been working on sitting up with Catherine, and yesterday the light went off in the baby brain. The first time she managed to stay upright just long enough for me to snap the picture before tipping over. Unfortunately, I was ill prepared for this, and she hit her head on the floor. Although the floor is well carpeted, she did not appreciate the thud her head made. Today we built a baby arena of pillows around her, and what do you know, Catherine says she doesn't need them! She sat unassisted for at least 5 minutes while playing with the little Fisher Price laptop. We titled the second photo "A Geek is Born".

One other exciting thing happening for us is that Catherine is getting up on all fours. I managed to snap this picture today just before she tumbled over on her face. Being a baby is hard work!

Christmas 2006

So Catherine cleaned house this year! Bill and I didn't do too bad ourselves, either. Here are just a few of our many photos from Christmas.

Christmas Decorating

I know, I know, it has been forever since I havev updated this! It is most likely that you aren't even checking anymore. Anyway, we were decorating for Christmas, and Catherine decided to give us a hand. Before anyone gets too upset, the wrapper is ON the Candy Cane.

Play Gym

Here are some photos we took after our Trick or Treating adventure. They play gym is being used as intended finally!

First Halloween

Catherine went Trick or Treating this year as a pumpkin. We took her to Grandma Ellen's houes, and to some of our friends' houses. This year was more fun for Mommy and Daddy than it was for Catherine, but we all had a great time. Notice in the second picture who is actually holding the bag of candy. We give a big thanks to Grandma Trish for supplying both the costume and treat bag!

Growth

I took the first picture on 10-27-06 and the second picture on 10-01-06. I can't believe how much she's grown in just a month!! This is Catherine's favorite outfit, by the way. Everytime I ask her what she wants to wear, she says, "The blue jump suit!" Okay, so she really just smiles and grunts every time I hold up the blue jump suit up as an option.

Talking to the camera

Yesterday we took this picture of Catherine trying to say the word "Hi!"

New Football Outfit

My mom got this adorable OSU outfit for Catherine to wear on football Saturdays. So far, so good. OSU is still undefeated. OH! IO!

Baby Picture Comparison

So, all I ever hear is, "Boy does that baby look like Bill!" To which I kindly reply, "Yes, yes she does." After a few weeks I started thinking that perhaps my husband had impregnated me with an entire child, to whom I contributed no genetic material. My mom, being the wonderful person she is, dug up these photos of me as a baby, and what do you know, maybe Catherine is my baby, too!

Fun Times

Yesterday Miss Catherine was in such a good mood, and was showing off for the camera. I took these while she was in her Pack n' Play.

The Smile

So, life has been a bit crazy, and getting time to get photos up impossible. I got this picture today, though, and just absolutely had to share it! I hope you all enjoy.

Baby Einstein

This pic goes out to Jennell, Kathy and Martha. Just wanted y'all to see that the Baby Einstein is getting all sorts of use. ;-)

Football Saturday

So we try our best to go to our friend's house on Saturdays for OSU football games. This week was a particuarly exciting game against Penn State because several of our friends attend school there. We had a lot of fun, and as you can see, Catherine was sweet talking Jacob the entire time.

Oh and for the record, OSU won. :)

A Party for NeNe

Since we could not make it to the cabin, last weekend we had our own party to celebrate NeNe's 90th birthday. Here are a few pictures we took. Check email for more photos.

The Finger

Here are the pictures of "The Finger". I hope everyone else finds this as funny as I do. If not, then perhaps I am just twisted.

I've learned how to post, too!

Okay, so Bill has taught me how to update this page, too. Hopefully we will be more on top of things now. However, my days are quite busy, and finding time to have both hands free to type is harder than I ever thought possible.

To answer a common question: the baby is sleeping fairly well at night, and we are getting plenty of rest. The hours we are keeping are a bit odd, but we are not nearly as exhusted as I hear most new parents are.

My mom pointed out that in the hospital picture the baby is giving the camera the "double finger". I hadn't noticed until she said something. This was in response to me telling her that we took a picture yesterday where she is giving me "the finger" while nursing. Perhaps I'll find some time to post the pic soon.

Until later!

Out of Order

A bit out-of-order, but here's the hospital pic that Durham Regional took for us....
